Modular laser rangefinders without housing ASTECH

ASTECH is the specialist for non-contact measurements in the industry. The range of products includes sensors for the detection of velocity, length, distance, position, width and color. In addition to sensors of the VLM, LDM and CROMLAVIEW series ASTECH also produces according to customer’s requirements and for OEM customers. The firm have gained extensive experiences in the application of optical sensors under difficult ambient conditions and offers a comprehensive portfolio of accessories for our sensors. Many years of experience in the field of process measurement technology and engineering, combined with special knowledge in development (microcontroller, FPGAs, CCD sensors), provide ASTECH with the best preconditions for innovative engineering.
The RF42 laser sensor measures distances up to 100 m with millimetre accuracy and has an integrated RS232 / RS422 interface. A digital switching output and a 4...20 mA analogue output are also available. The laser diode beam divergence is 0.6 mrad, which enables measurement of small objects as well. The sensor works in the gigahertz range and has a maximum output frequency of 10 / 50 Hz. The RF41 is an analogue of the LDM42A rangefinder and is available in an open modular design for designers and developers. The RF42 laser sensor is an opto-electronic non-contact distance sensor for industrial applications. It works by measuring with a phase comparison of amplitude modulated signals. The RF41 offers high measuring accuracy irrespective of the surface nature of the object to be measured. The sensor emits a thin, highly visible red laser beam which allows the sensor to be easily and accurately positioned in the correct position. The sensor provides millimetre-accurate distance measurement on objects with different surfaces, it has a high range, and on objects with an additional reflector the range exceeds 100 m. Even at sub-zero temperatures, the transmitter is highly accurate, has a wide supply voltage range and low power consumption. The safe Class 2 laser transmitter guarantees a high level of safety for operating personnel. The actual performance of the laser rangefinder depends on the reflective properties of the object to be measured, the influence of ambient light and atmospheric conditions. |
The RF601 is an OEM laser distance measurement module for extrem long distances and poorly reflecting targets. With its very small form factor it can easily be integrated in existing sensor or surveillance systems. The used invisible infrared laser beam makes the RF601 to be used unnoticed in public places or applications where people are present. The RF601 is unique on the market. With its special features it makes applications solvable which provide high demands on measuring range and compactness. The RF601 uses a pulsed time-of-flight principle with statistic data evaluation. With cooperative targets distance detections up to 3000 m are possible. With the wide supply voltage range the RF601 can be operated in microcontroller environments. Data transmission is done via an UART interface with CMOS level. The compact form factor and light weight makes the integration of the RF601 in existing sensor systems very easy. The solid aluminum body will be fastened by four thread holes for M4 screws. With the new OEM modules RF601 and RF601F, ASTECH is pushing into previously unattained distance ranges. Using a measuring principle that was previously only reserved for military rangefinders, distance measurements of up to 3000 m are possible without special reflectors or target plates. The achievable measurement uncertainties are less than one metre. The laser source is a 905 nm semiconductor laser diode of laser class 1 or 1M. The new modules are particularly suitable for applications in the port, railway and logistics sectors where poorly reflecting where poorly reflecting targets need to be detected at the greatest possible distance and their position tracked. An example of this are support systems for docking and casting off processes of large ships. The combination of an RF601 for the long range and an RF70A for the close range allows the entire distance range from the harbour entrance to the berth to be covered. In addition, with the increased data rate of the RF601F of 400 Hz, 2D or 3D scanning applications for extremely large areas in geodesy and landscape monitoring can also be realised. Due to the very compact dimensions, the new modules are also suitable for use in drones or UAV applications.

The RF70A is an OEM laser module to integrate laser distance measurement capabilities into existing measurement equipment. It is intended for general distance measurements that require extremely fast data acquisition. It provides up to 40,000 centimeter-precise measuring values per second – up to 70 m without a reflector. With appropriate reflectors the RF70A reaches objects at distances up to 270 m. The OEM laser module RF70A has been optimized for easy system integration. With its 5V power supply and a CMOS-level UART the connection to microcotrollers or SoCs can be done quite easy. Due to the invisible and eye safe laser (905 nm) the Rf70A can also be used in public areas.
